Meet the Team Feature
Each month (or there about!) we (or Bob Honey) finds out a bit more about the great team at the Packhorse.
This time Bob Honey finds out a bit more about Alex.
Alexander Gill (best called Alex in a busy pub!) has been a cheerful and busy presence in the Packhorse since joining us 3 years ago in his gap year, before starting on his LLB (Hons) law degree at the University of Law in Bristol.
Born and raised in Bath he enjoyed his school years at Beechen Cliff which he praises for giving him freedom and encouragement of taking opportunities, despite that eternal schoolboy struggle between school work and rugby! He also managed to squeak in completing the Three Peaks Challenge during 2018.
Although playing rugby is a thing of the past, his passion these days is time in the gym, something he began in school to sort out a little bit of excess weight.
Away from the Packhorse and university you could find him down at Southampton watching football with his father, although, he’s really a Chelsea man!
You could pass an interesting hour or so, buying him a pint of Guinness and talking about history. His specialist subject being the Anglo Saxons and Normans in the British Isles. Then leave him to catch up on his books, especially Julius Caesar, whom he considers one of history’s most interesting characters.
Travel and holidays often takes him to Lanzarote, and Goathland in North Yorkshire. Luckily for us he’s always drawn back to the Packhorse where he’s recently had a well-deserved promotion to Supervisor.
So keep up the good work and good cheer Alex, and when you eventually qualify as a solicitor, try to find a position locally so you can top up your lowly income as a lawyer with a few sessions behind the bar at the Packhorse!
