Highlights of 2019

As we approach the second anniversary of being a community-owned pub, we thought it would be a great time to look back at the highlights of 2019.

We woke to snow and road closures in early February and must have broken the record for the number of hot chocolates made in one day!

In March we had our 1-year anniversary party and we celebrated in style with live music and what surely must have been one of the largest cakes Bath has seen.

PackStock, our first ever festival, was a huge success over the last bank holiday May weekend. We are busy planning this year’s event for Sunday May 24th – watch this space.

Also, in May, we were visited by food critic Grace Dent from The Guardian. The whole Packhorse team (and our supporters) were thrilled with her fantastic review of the pub which was published in July.

In November we had the first of our multi-course tasting events and the menu was completely dedicated to beef. We bought the meat from a local farmer whose Dexters were reared only 500 yards from the pub – local food at its best. For our second tasting menu on Feb 20th we went completely vegan with a totally plant-based menu. Both tasting events were a huge success and we look forward to offering a different theme each quarter.

We had another mention in a national newspaper in November – The Packhorse was featured in The Telegraph as one of the ‘Best for Walkers’ pubs as part of The Sawday’s Great British Pub Guide.

We ended the year on a high with lots of Christmas parties and live music events. We are sure that 2020 will be just as fun with lots of interesting events already planned and hopefully some more amazing reviews for us to read.
